Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (CLGA)

Founded in 1973, the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives is the largest l/g/b/t archives in Canada. As an independent, educational institution the archives serves the needs of the Canadian, as well as an international, community.

The archives includes the James Fraser Library, what maybe the largest collection of l/g periodicals in world, files on international groups and individuals, as well as the papers of prominent Canadian activists and organizations.


Gay and Lesbian Archives of South Africa
Established in January 1997, the Gay and Lesbian Archives (GALA) provides a permanent institutional home for the wide range of historical and archival material relating to gay and lesbian experience in South Africa. It aims to be a source of information to the public and to serve as a catalyst for generating other, previously silenced community histories and personal narratives. 

GALA is an independent project of the South African History Archive (SAHA) which forms part of the Historical Papers collection based at the William Cullen Library in the University of the Witwatersrand


Gay and Lesbian Studies -- New York Public Library

Begun in 1911, the published materials in the Research Libraries are complemented by manuscript collections reflecting the donation to the Library of various archives, the most significant being that of the International Gay Information Center.  These archives include the records of organizations such as the Gay Activists Alliance and the Mattachine Society; the personal papers of Arthur Bell, Jonathan Katz, and other gay men and lesbians; gay- and lesbian-related periodicals, both domestic and foreign; ephemera such as posters, flyers, announcements, gay comic and coloring books, t-shirts, buttons and games; and audio- visual materials.


Gerber Hart Library

Founded in Chicago in 1981, Gerber/Hart Library is the Midwest's largest gay, lesbian and bisexual circulating library, archives and resource center. In addition to extensive collections, Gerber/Hart is a vital community resource offering a wide range of cultural and educational programs aimed at the goal of dispelling homophobia through knowledge.


Guide to Gay and Lesbian Resources in the University of Chicago Library

This Guide, a joint project of the University of Chicago Library and the Center for Gender Studies, identifies and classifies over 2800 monographs and serials in the University of Chicago Library collections that deal primarily with gay and lesbian themes.


Homodok-Lesbisch Archief Amsterdam

Homodok-LAA takes great pride in its collection of gay and lesbian periodicals from all over the world. Homodok-LAA's gay and lesbian periodicals catalogue lists 3800 titles, ranging from The Advocate (USA) to ZiZo (Belgium), from journals dating back to the birth of the gay and lesbian movement on the eve of the twentieth century to end-of-the-millennium queerzines. They provide us with a unique record of every aspect of gay and lesbian life.

ONE Institute International Gay and Lesbian Archives

ONE Institute International Gay and Lesbian Archives (ONEIGLA) is an independent, not-for-profit California educational institution which houses the world's largest research library on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered heritage and concerns. Affiliated with but not governed by the University of Southern California, ONE/IGLA relies wholly on community and corporate support.

Formed in 1952, ONE is the oldest ongoing Gay/Lesbian organization in the Western Hemisphere. The collection that ultimately became the International Gay & Lesbian Archives was begun in 1942. The two organizations, each with a long history, merged in 1994 to create a larger and more diversified organizational structure, serving an ever-broader constituency, a growing group of affiliated scholars, and with a wide range of volunteer and contributor opportunities.
