Biography: Roberta Achtenberg
Achtenberg was the first openly gay person to be
confirmed by the U.S. Senate assistant secretary of Housing and
Urban Development. She also served a a member of the San Francisco
Board of Supervisors and ran for mayor of San Francisco.
In addition, Achtenberg is coauthor of The
Lesbian and Gay Book of Love and Marriage : Creating the
Stories of Our Lives, designer of Helping
Gay and Lesbian Youth : New Policies, New Programs, New Practice,
and editor of Sexual
Orientation and the Law.
