The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Yukon aims to
establish and maintain a social, recreational, educational and
political outlet for the gay, lesbian, multicultural community; to
act as a core group for various gay and lesbian committees; to
provide emotional support to gays and lesbians, including gay
youth; to provide access to information concerning gay and lesbian
issues; to support or challenge individuals and groups regarding
gay and lesbian issues; to support other individuals and groups in
their struggles for human rights; to foster knowledge of the
status and rights of Yukon gays and lesbians, and to work towards
expanding the legal recognition of those rights; to network with
local AIDS organizations, provide AIDS information and support
members that are HIV positive, or have developed AIDS; to network
with other gay and lesbian organizations, nationally and
internationally.

The Women's
Directorate became a department of the Yukon Government in 1985.
The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that gender
considerations are integrated into all aspects of government
policy-making, legislation and program development. It relies
heavily upon a network of women's groups and non-government
organizations and agencies throughout the Yukon for ensuring that
women's concerns are brought forward. The Directorate currently
has a staff of five, which includes a Director, Policy Analyst,
part-time Policy Analyst, part-time Communications Coordinator,
and Office Administrator.
