The American Civil Liberties Union is the
nation's foremost advocate of individual rights -- litigating,
legislating, and educating the public on a broad array of issues
affecting individual freedom in the United States. This is a
general introduction and history to the ACLU, the first in a
series of briefing papers. Other briefing papers, produced by the
ACLU Office of Public Education, explain the organization's
position on a range of specific civil liberties issues.

ACT UP
ACT UP is a diverse, non-partisan group of
individuals united in anger
and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis. ACT
UP is a decentralized political organization with local chapters
worldwide.

The GLBTRT is a unit of the
American Library Association. The GLBTRT was founded in 1970 as the Task
Force on Gay Liberation. We are considered to be the nation's first gay,
lesbian & bisexual professional organization.

The Astraea National Lesbian Action Foundation,
Inc. is a national nonprofit public charity. Our purpose is

Astraea's programs benefit lesbians, all women

forms of oppression and exploitation, to advance the economic,
political, educational and cultural well-being of lesbians.
