The Task Force [1978] is a nonprofit, tax-exempt
corporation dedicated to the advancement of civil and human rights
for lesbian women and gay men. Over the last decade, more than 250
community-based volunteer organizations across the state have
participated in unparalleled organizing efforts to establish
affirmative law and public policy and to document the incidence of
hate-motivated discrimination and violence; to increase our
representation and visibility through mass media negotiations and
litigation; to protect and support gay and nongay students and
teachers in primary, secondary, and postsecondary education; and
to organize community protest and resistance to substantive
attacks against civil and human rights.
